This pedagogical orientation, namely the APC/ESV,
takes into account developments in didactics, gives
meaning to mathematical learning,
promotes better intellectual development and harmonious integration into society, which
is the main purpose of education in
Cameroon (law on the orientation of education in
Cameroon, article 4, 1998). General objectives
being among others:
- To train citizens rooted in
their culture and open to the world; ¤ of
develop creativity, a sense of
initiative…..;
- To install the culture of love of effort
and a job well done, the quest for
excellence…;
- To adapt to economic realities
as well as the international environment,
particularly with regard to the
promotion of science and
technology … .
As such, the teaching of mathematics
has a dual mission:
- The first is a training mission
students' intellectual development, by developing
progressively the capacity for experimentation,
logical reasoning, creativity and
of critical analysis, in order to make them capable,
in life situations, to fully exercise
their citizenship.
- The second is a utility mission
integration of scientific knowledge into
socio-economic context and the environment
international. Like those in the sixth and
fifth, mathematics programs
of third class are an opportunity to ask the
milestones of this dual mission which passes through the
development of three skills
fundamentals which are, in a universal way,
those of any teaching/learning of
mathematics namely:
- Solve a problem situation.
- Deploy mathematical reasoning.
- Communicate using language
mathematical.
